There are a plethora of resources to find the right book for your child. The sites listed below will be able to provide you with lists of award-winning books and reviews.
The Kids Bookshelf page offers reviews for timely holiday themed books as well as recently published books for Preschool through 2nd grade children.
The Caldecott Medal is awarded each year to an American illustrator for the "most distinguished" picture book each year. The award, started in 1938, is named in honor of Randolph Caldecott, the nineteenth century English illustrator.
The Newbery Medal is awarded each year for the "most distinguished writing" in a children"s book. Named for John Newbery, an eighteenth century English book seller, the medal is for American writers only and began in 1922.

Chester County Reading Olympics
The Olympics are primarily a celebration of reading rather than a contest. All participants are awarded ribbons. Since the teams generate much excitement about this reading event, the experience is rewarding for everyone involved. Every year, librarians and reading specialists are invited to take part in selecting the books for the following year's book lists.
